We had Vacation Bible School the week of July 13-17. It went fairly well. We had an average of about 52 kids per night! Our high was 55! Lots of work but worth the effort! The theme was entited Castles, Swords and Kingdoms.

Yesterday was my birthday. It was a nice "surprise" to get flowers delivered to my door. My dad always sends me flowers but I hadn't thought about it at that time yesterday. They are so nice and especially so because I never get flowers delivered to me! Thanks Dad!

Now, this may sound like a strange request but I need help! We just got an internet filter (safe eyes . . . see it at safeeyes.com). It will filter out all of the bad garbage. The crazy thing is, when I try to go on my blogspot, it will not let me because it says that there is sexual words on it so as long as I have it checked not to display any sexual content, I cannot get on it. I cannot for the life of me figure out what in the world it could be talking about! If you find anything, let me know. I was going to bust on my mother and say I could not get on hers because it had bad stuff on it and ironically, it won't let me on my own! So, if you can help me out, that would be wonderful!

Our "New" Van

Okay, so we broke down and got another van. You can look at that either way. Our van broke down so we broke down and got another. We have still kept our other mini-van on the road but it has many issues that need to be fixed and we really didn't want to keep on putting money into it right now. Below are the pictures of our 2000 Ford Windstar. We hope it works out good and everything! It still needed aligned so we don't have it yet. Probably will have to wait until the beginning of the week to get it. Time will tell.

Well, just a little bit after 3 months of having this bird, it has "passed away". Not really sure why it did. We uncovered it on Sunday (it had been covered with a light cloth for sleeping) and it was dead. Oh well, guess that is life. It was fun while it was happening. :)

Losing weight?!?

Anyway, I have not been doing real good with this weight loss thing over the holidays but, I have been trying to cut back the last little bit. I went to update my weight loss ticker this morning and was surprised to see I had lost between 2-3 lbs from when I had last updated it! Anyway, about 10 lbs. lost total!!!!! That's exciting to me! I'm going to keep plugging away. I bought a size 22 jacket and skirt combo (it was on major clearance) and hope to wear it for Daniel's ordination in July! We will see! There are pics of it below. I think it is very nice and hope I accomplish my goal.

I hate it when people say they have a new addition to their family and it ends up being an animal. Henceforth, I am not going to say that we have a new addition to our family but to our house. We got a cat this last week. It's former name was/is Smokey. We are not sure if we are going to rename it or not. Guess we will decide whenever!!! :)

We had a snow storm today so while Daddy was out snow blowing and working hard, Mommy and the kiddos built a snowman. Daddy did have to take a break and put in place the middle snowball. Okay, this is not good . . . or maybe it is?!?!? Anyway, I have become a coupon addict and a CVS'er! But, I have found you can get some really good deals if you do this! Below is my order from CVS that I bought today. With coupons and everything, my total came to 11.04. Now, that may not seem like a BIG deal to you but, I also received 6.00 in extra care buck to use on my next purchase which I will be doing! That brings the order down to 5.04. That's barely 1.00 per item!!!! I think I got some fabulous deals. I have been needing a new toothbrush because my children got into mine and I hate using it after them even though I have. Shampoo is always a good thing. I use the clean & clear on my face and so that was not wasted and toothpaste is also a necessity! I also think that I did pretty good at Tops as well. Everything below came to 23.46 after coupons and everything. Before savings, my total was 58.90!!!!! Again, these are items I will use. I buy most of this stuff for the Christmas/New Year holidays anyway so I saved myself some money in the long run! The only things that maybe I did not need was the Glade plug ins )but they were only about 2-3.00 for the two and the mandarin oranges were .45 but I will use them! Other than that, all stuff I plan on using anyway! So, I'm grinning like an idiot and at least I think that I got some good buys. If I didn't please don't pop my bubble and let me know!!!!!

We had our Christmas program last Sunday evening. The children acted out the Christmas story while our Sunday School Superintendent read verses about each part. I think it went okay since we only had 2 practices!

The picture below is quite dark. My husband said he could not get a good shot with it being so dark in the church. It is a picture of all of the children singing. Below is our Mary and Joseph. Joseph was actually a girl because none of the little boys wanted to do it! She didn't seem to mind too much!

Okay, so i received my first free sample in the mail the other day. I was excited! It came in a pretty decent sized box and was from easy closets. Now, I was under the impression that I was getting some sort of thing to organize my closets with! I looked at the box and assumed it had to be assembled! It was rather heavy so had to be something good!

When I opened the box, much to my surprise, there were six wooden blocks inside. That's it - 6 wooden blocks. Oh yeah, I think that there was some sort of flyer promoting these "closets" too! My husband and I had a good laugh.Has anyone else out there received something that they were not expecting it to be along the free sample line? If so, leave a comment and tell me about it. Please don't tell me I am the only one!

Well, it's Christmas time again. I don't know if I am ready for it or not but I guess it's time so we need to get ready. Below is a picture of our Christmas tree. I like our tree. It's not "fancy" but it's ours and unique! We have everything on there just about! We actually collect rare and unusual ornaments. Every time we go on vacation, we attempt to get an ornament from that place. Makes for a good time to reminisce!

Above is my Christmas village. I believe I have 27 houses including my skating pond. I takes up way too much room but I can't not put it up. I covers our entire air hockey table plus another table. I hope to get something different built for it for next year. We will see!

Well, today my sweetie turned 31! It seems not too long ago he turned 21! Time sure does fly. We are starting to get OLD. I know, that doesn't seem too old to some of you and you wish you could be that age again but we are headed towards middle age and I don't like that. I want to be late teens early twenties but I guess that is how life goes. Below is a couple of pictures of Daniel's birthday. We have not had cake yet. Well, I kind of fell off the bandwagon with this dieting thing for a couple of weeks but think I'm back on. I basically maintained while I was off the bandwagon and now have lost one more pound. I guess that's how it is done, one pound at a time. I just keep on thinking about my goal and that is what helps me! Hopefully next summer I will only be a part of who I am today!!! :) Keep rooting for me!

Thanksgiving Happenings!

We are having our annual church Thanksgiving dinner tonight. The church people really like to have favors so it falls my lot as pastor's wife to create these favors. I originally had made the turkey magnets down further on the page. Then, on Sunday, I realized that there were going to be quite a few kids there and possibly more people than favors so, decided to do some favors for the kids. Henceforth, the cookie/candy turkeys below. I think they turned our really cute. They are a little time-consuming but the finished product is worth it! I think everyone will like both of the favors. I am quite sure that some of the adults will want the kids favors too! We will have to see if there is enough!

Why do I homeschool my child?

Homeschooling . . .
It can many times not be fun. It takes a lot of work and dedication on behalf of usually the mommy. It is very trying when the child will not cooperate or says it is "boring"! It messes up your day. You no longer can do just what you want, but have to make sure that schooling is completed. Do I like to homeschool? Not really! So, then, you ask, why do you homeschool? I can tell you why . . .

1. There is not a Christian Day School in our area that would tell my daughter the truth. So henceforth, public school is the only option but in public school they teach the following philosophies and I do not want my child indoctrinated with such lies.

2. I don't want my child going to school and being taught that she evolved from a monkey or some other organism. She was a gift from God and was made and created by Him, in His image. I want her to know that! I don't want her thinking that she simply evolved from some lower life form. (Oh is it okay to say lower life form? We would not want to hurt those organisms feelings!)

3. I don't want my child to be told that it is okay for "Heather to have two mommies." The Bibles says that a man and a woman should be joined together not a man and a man or a woman and a woman. I want her to someday grow up to marry a fine man, not another girl! She does not need to be indoctrinated with this.

4. I believe that there is one true God. In public schools, they teach that their is no god or that there are many gods and it really doesn't matter which one you want to follow. It's okay. We all end up in a good place anyway. (Unless if you are Christian - then it's not okay). Well, my Bible doesn't say that anyway will work. The one true way is the only way and I want my daughter to know that!

I'm sure if I thought more, I could come up with more reasons as to why I homeschool my daughter. I feel that these are enough though. If you hear ideas like this daily, it will soon be ingrained in your mind that these things are okay. It's not that I don't want my daughter to see the "real world" I just don't want her at the tender age of 5 being told that these things are okay. So, even though I don't like homeschooling, even though it is a pain, even though I don't get to set my schedule as much . . . here goes another day, training my child educationally and spiritually. I want to see my children in Heaven some day and nothing is too great of price to pay for that!

So all you homeschool moms . . . Keep up the good work! Keep your chin up high and be proud of what you are doing!

5.4 Pounds off!

Well, I feel as if this week has been a semi-success. I lost a total of 5.4 pounds. I would have been down more but, I cheated on Saturday and Sunday!!! Will try to do better this week but will be hard as we are going to my in-laws for vacation. Pray I don't gain it all back. I would at least like to maintain or lose 1-2 lbs! It's too hard to hit it hard when you are at someone elses house and can't control what is being fed to you. I CAN control the amount I eat though so hopefully that will work! We will see!

Today poor Josiah had to have 5 shots! (He was behind) He has been doing well with them though and has hardly complained! Thank the Lord! Anyway, he must have obviously been tired tonight because my accordion case was here in the living room and he climbed up on it and went to sleep. This is exactly how I found him. He woke up shortly thereafter though. I think it must have been uncomfortable.

On My Way to Thinness!?!

For anyone who personally cares, I am attempting to diet - again. I have never been real successful but really want it to work this time. Daniel is hopefully getting ordained next summer and I would like to look nice for it. If you want to check out my progress, I have a weight ticker at the bottom of my page and will hopefully keep it updated, maybe once a week! If it disappears, you will know that once again, I have failed! Pray that it works and every once in awhile, even ask me how I'm doing! I want to be thin for once in my life!!!!

Our Newest Additon

Today my husband became the proud owner of a cockatiel. He has been wanting a bird for quite some time and has been looking at Parakeets but we have just simply felt as if we could not really afford it right now. Anyway, a lady we know was getting rid of this one and gave it too us. The only problem is, it knows how to "wolf whistle" and it is in my husband's study so in the summer months when the windows are open he might get into trouble - not really! :)

Is anyone else really tired of this political race and wish it would end? I am so tired of the LIBERAL media already predicting Obama as a winner (or at least as I see it.) We have an awesome God that can do anything and I am praying that God will not let an evil individual get into office. If so, our country will be in dire straights and we will probably not be a "Christian" nation anymore. We so need to vote and we need to vote for the one with the most values - McCain. Even though we may not see eye to eye on everything, we MUST vote for him or we will reap the consequences maybe even persecution of the "change." Pray, fast and then on November 4th vote! The contest isn't over yet. Don't let the media convince you of such!

Most people know that October is Pastor appreciation month. Last week our church gave us a pounding. Those are always nice and come in handy! Today they gave us a really big card and it had candy bars in it to complete a message A picture of the card is below.

The message inside the card said (in case if you can't read it) Pastor & Sr. Waterman, You may snicker why you read this. We wanted to thank you for the mounds of work you do for our church. Thanks for helping us when we are in a crunch. You "Skor" high with us! We hope you take 5 minutes for a fast break! We wanted to get you a whatchamacallit but they were all sold out. We wish we had 100 grand to give to you to go on a shopping spree but when payday comes in Heaven, you'll receive lots of crowns!

Fall arrangement!

You know how it is when you have special company, you want your house to look all nice. Well in our table in the hall, we had had a nice spring arrangement but it really was not conducive to the fall season so, Daniel suggested we change it. Between the two of us, this is what we came up with. I think that it looks really nice and adds a nice touch to our front entryway! I love decorating for fall. Just yesterday I put up my fall decorations and started burning fall scented candles. I love this season. The only thing that I don't like and I won't even say the actual word because it is so bad is the season that comes after this one! YUCK! Anyway, we'll enjoy this season while it lasts!

Gym Class!

The other day we had gym class. We were actually combining science and talking about the good ways to exercise. I think we also threw in some talk about muscles which we had studied earlier in the week. Anyway, I came across the idea for having the children act like animals to exercise different parts of the body. The girls really liked this. Below is a picture of Felicia acting like a monkey. There were other things too like galloping like a horse, hopping like a kangaroo, flapping your arms and running around like a bird along with other things. They enjoyed it!

Hey all of my fine friends - especially you pastor's wives or those who have been - We are starting revival tomorrow and it's a 10 dayer!!!! My house isn't ready yet and they are supposed to be arrive around 1:00 tomorrow! :( Not much time left! Also, can't go into all the details but I have been going through some tough things lately and would appreciate all of the prayers you could give. Just had something really funny I wanted to post. Last night we went shopping for food for revival. It was late and we had not had any supper so we pulled into McDonald's'. (You know the good trusty dollar menu!) Well anyway, I'm not sure if she was just hungry or if she just likes McDonald's or if she saw the play place but as we pulled in, Hannah got all excited and she sits back there in her car seat and says "Praise the Lord." Daniel didn't understand her at first but I did and began laughing so she couldn't hear me. She ended up saying 2 times before we went in. Maybe we all should be like that and thank the Lord for even a trip to McDonald's!

We have come across an old art called Scherenschnitte. We decided to take it up. It is tedious but the results are well worth it. Sheri wanted me to post a picture of one that I have done. On Friday, we went on a field trip with some other home-schoolers. We went to the Ross Park Zoo. It was a nice time. I plan on taking more trips with this group in the future.

The lady who "heads" the group had printed off a list of different of the animals that were at the zoo and the children then would cross off each animal as they saw it. Felicia enjoyed this part, making sure she got every animal.

Felicia and I did an activity called quilling. This was her favorite part. You took paper strips and rolled them around a toothpick. Then you glued them together to make a special design. We made a snowflake. Felicia's looked more like a flower. It is a really cool craft!

Troy Heritage Festival

A couple from our church are into the civil war reenactments. They asked us to come to the Troy Heritage Festival where they would be setting up camp. Here are some pictures of the day. Terren, dressed in civil war costume, holding Hannah.

Help! She's growing up!

Our little girl is growing up. Today we got up and had breakfast. Felicia was getting dressed and came to me and said "Mom, I have a loose tooth". Well, I checked and sure enough, she did. This was around 9:00. Before 10:00, she had pulled it. Below is a picture of her smiling with her gaping hole!

Hannah thought it was great that Felicia lost one of her teeth and is acting like she lost one too. She wanted me to take a picture of her too.

After supper tonight, Felicia came to me and told me that she has another loose tooth. Sure enough, she does. I hurried up and took these pictures before she decides to pull that one too. She is getting $1.00 for her tooth and now, her battle-cry is "I'm going to get rich!" (She's planning on pulling every tooth in her mouth from the sounds of it.

On Felicia's 5th birthday, she wanted to go to Cracker Barrel. Here are her, her Daddy, Josiah and Hannah trying out the rocking chairs on the front porch. She had never been there before and really enjoyed it. I think she was kind of embarrassed when they came out with a special dessert for her and sang Happy Birthday to her. The best part was though was when she got to pick out a special lollipop from the store! It was a good day for her.

Sorry I have not posted in like forever. I had planned on putting on more pictures of our vacation but have not got around to it. We went right into VBS then had a week off, went into youth camp and have almost a week off and then go into family camp for about 10 days. Then, it will be time to start school with Felicia so, summer is over. :( Anyway, something encouraging about youth camp is that both of our girls went to the alter and got saved. I am really encouraged about the one. She came right up to me and told me she had been going on the wrong path for the past 5 years and she is going to go on the right one now. Pray for her though because as we were pulling back in the trailer park where she lives, she said something to the effect of this is too weird. I feel like such a misfit. No one else in here is a Christian. I know God wants to do something with her life. Please pray with me that she will stay true. She is 13 years old. God can and will help her. Pray for Daniel and myself as well as we try to lead her and guide her and help her make it to Heaven. I guess that is it for now. I have so much to do before family camp. I need to get at it!

Tuesday evening to finish off the day, we miniature golfing. We had went to one of these chains on our honeymoon so, it was fun to go to one like it. It is called Pirates cove, hence, the pirate patches on the girls eyes below.

Yesterday we decided to go to Whiteface Mountain. It is the 5th largest mountain in New York State. It is pretty high up. The picture above is a view of Lake Placid from the top.

On Monday, we went to the Eisenhower Locks in Massena, NY. It was neat to see them make the boats go from one level of water to another level. We watched three big boats and two personal boats go through. It was quite interesting. Above is a boat getting ready to enter the locks.

Here's a picture of Felicia at the Locks. She was facinated by the whole process. She kept on asking all kinds of questions the whole time about the process and other things. She really enjoyed this activity.

A Swing Set!!!!!!!!

Our children for the first time in their lives, have an honest to goodness swing set. They have been working hard to get it. We have saved some money from all of their birthdays but we did not have enough! The girls and mommy decided to do a yard sale. Mommy prayed and asked that it would be "fruitful" as we really wanted to do this for the children. We made $100.00 in on day! We added that to the about 50.00 that we had saved and also a Lowes 10.00 card (off from 25.00) Well, needless to say, after we got enough stuff to get the main construction up, we were left with I believe $3.48. Just enough. How good God is. Anyway, we did not get enough yet to build the platform to put the slide down. We are supposed to be having another yard sale tomorrow to help toward that! Felicia must have heard me talking about praying for the first yard sale because one morning she came to me and said "Mommy, can you pray that we get enough money for a slide?" I hope we are able to get the rest of it soon. I don't know how well the second yard sale will go because most of the stuff has been "picked" over but I did find a few new things to add too so, we will see! By the way, we will take any contributions. :) Just joking. I'm sure that before the summer is out, we will somehow find enough money to build the rest of the set! The kids sure have fun on it and I am glad that God cares enough about even the little things . . . even little kid's swing sets!

Our Garden

Here's some pictures of our garden. Above is a "whole" shot of it. Just ignore the white things on the ground. It is recycled shredded paper. The thought being, you use up your shredded paper, you use that as a mulch to keep the weeds down and then, it will decompose and make the soil a better soil. Don't know if it works or not but we are giving it a try. Hay looks much nicer but we don't have a limitless source of hay so we use our junk mail! Good idea huh?

Above are some really nice broccoli plants. They look better in real life than they do in the picture. They are really nice plants.

How about some tomato plants? Some of ours, as shown above, already have tomatoes on them. I can't wait till they turn red!

Here is a cucumber plant all in bloom. There are quite a few blooms on these plants. Hopefully they will turn out good too! I am almost out of pickles!

Finally, our tomatoes from the greenhouse are beginning to come along. I thought they were going to be a total loss but, they are coming along nicely. We should get something from them!

I will probably post more pictures as the summer goes along. Sure am looking forward to the produce from the garden especially after the hard work. Our corn is still not up. You know, it's supposed to be knee high by the fourth of July? Well, ours will be lucky if it is even up. We have planted it 3 times now. We think that something is getting into it . . . squirrels maybe? Anyway, this is our last attempt. We have put a netting over it so hopefully, it will work this time! :)

Fishing for Food!

We went fishing tonight. It was kind of one of those spur of the moment decisions but it was a good one. We thought we might have to supplement our food supply with the price of gas and all! :)

We caught some "pan" fish (I think about 8) but the real trophies of the night were two that Daniel caught. He caught a bass (about 16 1/4 inches long) and a bullhead. I think that he was real proud of them and he should be. I was kind of jealous! Anyway, told him I had to take pictures of him with them. The one above is a picture of the two he caught. The picture below is him holding the bass. Very nice fish. Some of the biggest he's probably caught! Made the night worth the while.

Our 8th Anniversary!

Today my husband and me celebrate our 8th anniversary. I am so thankful that God brought Daniel into my life. He is such a blessing to me. I hope that the Lord will give us many many more years together. I want to grow "grey" with him! Today he has been working in the garden. I helped him some but then came inside. We plan on taking our children to Bro. & Sr. Hocks for them to babysit and then we are going out for a few hours tonight. I would like to go to the Cracker Barrel but we will see! Whatever we do, it will just be nice to spend some time together by ourselves! :)

Thirty-three is the official number to date of the "Major" clan. Of course, this includes all of the in-laws, out-laws you know, everyone, married and all the results of the marriages. Here is a rare group photo. It's not very often that everyone who has descended from my grandparents is able to get together so when we do, we try to get a picture. Pretty soon it's outdated though because another child be it grand or great, arrives on the scene.

This is Felicia and one of her cousins. Today the kids played outside quite a bit. They really like the swimming pool that we got for them, though Felicia informed me she did not want to spend any of HER money on it. I did not even ask her to but she was not going to part with anything for it.

Josiah was outside today too. He enjoyed relaxing in a swing while Daniel work on our rabbits cage. He almost fell asleep but when he saw me bring out the food for lunch, he quickly let me know he wanted to eat!

We did eat outside today. We had hamburgers, potatoes and broccoli. It was all very yummy. Since the girls had been in the pool, I decided to eat outside. Then, we didn't have to worry abou them tracking in and changing their clothes. We just let the clothes dry on them.

Here is Daniel hard at work in our garden. He was taking up some weeds. It is doing okay but I wished it were doing better. He had started some plants in the greenhouse this year. Some seemed to take, others don't seem to be coming around so I think we are going to go and buy some today to replace the ones that are not going to cut it! I have really enjoyed working in the garden this year. We will probably post more pictures of it as it gets going.

Our Early Anniversary Gift

We found a good deal on the above fire pit so decided to get that for our anniversary. It is really nice. We used it on my birthday. It's not the same where you can get a "big roarin' fire" or anything but it gives a little fire! The fire pit was a display model so we got 10 percent off! Daniel said that is crazy. Normally you have to pay if you want something assembled. We got 10 percent discount! Cool hun?

Another Year Older and Home!

Sorry I have not posted anything the last few days of our vacation. It got to the point where I couldn't post any pictures so, I didn't. I am going to ask my mother-in-law to send me the last couple I really wanted to post and will hopefully get them up. Anyway, we are home! It's nice to go on vacation but it's nice to go home! We celebrated my birthday yesterday. We did some shopping (since Daniel didn't get anything yet because of being at his parents house all last week). We also went and played a round of miniature golf. It was okay but try to take a 4 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old golfing. Felicia got it and had fun but the other two were going all over the place, climbing on the green when we were trying to "putt" our balls you know, making life all around fun! Next time I don't think I am going to pay for Hannah to play because it only gave us another ball and club to try to look after. I think she played two or three holes and on those ones, she thought that after you hit the ball, you should go pick it up! She was trying to pick up everyones balls. It was a blast, can't you tell? I asked Daniel, "wern't we supposed to leave the kids at home?" No, it was fun even if they didn't get it. Anyway, we then got some ice cream there too. We came home and had a fire in a fire pit that we found a good deal on so bought as an early anniversary gift. Hopefully we make it one more week so it wasn't bought in vain. :) No, just joking. As long as we don't die or something crazy like that, we fully anticipate celebrating our 8th anniversary a week from today! Anyway, the girls went swimming in a pool we got for them and then we had cake and went to bed. It was a full and HOT day (almost 100 degrees). Alas, I am one year older. Don't know about wiser but another year older!

Preparing for Wednesday Evening Service!

Grand Gorge is currently without a pastor so, what is the automatic thing for them to do when a pastor comes there on vacation? They asked him to speak on Wednesday. Well, Daniel had had Dad Major speak at our church when they were down on vacation and he must have learned well from Dad's preparation. This is what dad did (except he sat up). Daniel must have thought it worked quite well because as you can see, he is meditating quite well. Thanks dad for the inspiration! I think it is only fair he gives you a Wednesday off too! You'll have to ask him!

Time for Tea!

Grandma had been telling the girls most of the week that they could have a tea party some day this week. Well, yesterday it was kind of rainy out so we figured that would be the best day to have it. Josiah was invited too! In the picture above, Felicia is pouring herself a glass of punch. We also had cheese curls and swiss cake rolls cut up to look like fancy little things. The girls had a good time and Josiah . . . . where there is food, it is always a good time.
